Q: How long will the battery last?
With the use of all assistance modes and not sitting in turbo all the time. The E-bikes will allow 50 miles or more of travel.
Q: Is an E-Bike for people who are not in good shape?
Sure the not so fit person will benefit from riding an electric bike. But that is not the main reason for choosing an E-Bike. Many visitors to the island have limited time and want to make the most of the time they have. E-bikes allow cyclist of all levels of skill and fitness enjoy more of the island.
So if you are riding with a group of fast riders, sure, rent an E-bike. If you are a fit cyclist and running short on time and want to see as much as you can before the ferry? Then rent an E-Bike.
Q: Do the electric bikes have a throttle?
All of our electric bikes are pedal assist bikes. So you will have to be pedaling for the electric motor assist you. There is no throttle or need to worry about over throttle and losing control. We have Kona and Felt electric bike with Bosch electric motors. These are high-quality engines that are so smooth you will hardly notice it running.
Q: Will it recharge when pedaling?
Unfortunately, no. The E-Bike require a rather large battery that requires a wall outlet for charging. Charge time is minimal and given that you can get at least 50 miles on a battery, this should not be a concern.

Hybrid Bikes
Q: Why is it called a hybrid bike?
In today’s world hybrid is an interesting word. We all quickly jump to the conclusion that it must have a motor. But the hybrid bike does not have a motor. It is considered a blend between a road bike and mountain bike. So think of a mountain bike frame with skinny tires. This makes the bike very versatile and comfortable.
Q: Can I ride a hybrid bike around the island?
Absolutely, the hybrid bikes have plenty of gears and more than capable of going around the whole island. The wide gear range and comfortable seated position make it the perfect bike or any rider.
Q: Can I pack a lunch with me?
The hybrid bikes all come with a rear rack and storage bag. The bag provides plenty of room for food items and a light jacket. The bikes also have water bottle cages mounted to the frame.
Rental Details
Q: What if I get a flat tire?
All bikes have a flat tire repair kit with instructions on fixing a flat. Once you leave the shop we will not be able to assist you on the road.
Q: Can I take the bike to other islands?
Yes. Many guests rent bikes and head over to Lopez and Orcas Island. All the islands are great for cycling. Some just have a few more hills than others.
Q: Can I drop the bike off after hours?
Yes. We have an after-hours dropoff behind our shop. Simply lock the bikes off then Call or Text the office to leave a message that the bikes are back. We will have a staff member retrieve the bikes.
Q: What about overnight rentals?
We have overnight rental availability on all of our bikes. There is a special rate for multi-day bookings. Visit the bike rentals page for details.
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet?
Though it is not Washington State law for anyone over the age of 18 to wear a helmet. We will refuse to rent a bike to anyone who does not agree to wear a helmet. It’s company policy!
Q: What all is included in the rental fee?
All bike rentals include:

- Rear rack and bag (Electric and Hybrid)
