In today’s world hybrid is an interesting word. We all quickly jump to the conclusion that it must have a motor. But the hybrid bike does not have a motor. It is considered a blend between a road bike and mountain bike. So think of a mountain bike frame with skinny tires. This makes the bike very versatile and comfortable.
Q: Can I ride a hybrid bike around the island?
Absolutely, the hybrid bikes have plenty of gears and more than capable of going around the whole island. The wide gear range and comfortable seated position make it the perfect bike or any rider.

The road bikes all have drop bard and shifting in the brake levers. For those new to brake lever shifters, it can be a bit confusing at first. But most get the hang of it pretty quick.
More than anything the seated position puts the rider in a more bent over or forward position. This can feel uncomfortable for new riders.
The gearing of the bike is also different. In general, we tell guests the road bikes have a bit more of a performance gearing and slight harder gears for climbing hills.

If you are an experienced road cyclist you will prefer the handling, gearing, and shifters. The road bikes have a more performance feel to the experienced cyclist.
