Sample Bike Tour: An afternoon around San Juan Island South
You’ll meet your guide in our downtown Friday Harbor shop to get properly fitted and oriented to your bike. From the shop, your guide will lead you out of town towards Cattle Point Road, taking the less-trafficked back roads. Once on the main road to the south end of San Juan Island, you’ll be rewarded with wonderful valley views and glimpses of Mount Baker to the east. Six miles from Friday Harbor, you’ll arrive at American Camp National Historic Park, where everyone can lock up their bikes and enjoy a short interpretive hike to the park’s historic grounds and scenic overlooks. Your guide will be able to answer any questions you may have about the Native Coast Salish population that used to inhabit the area, the Pig War, or any wildlife you may come across. After a short break for snacks, you’ll start working your way back to Friday Harbor.
